Sharon of KRON Channel 4 speaks with licensed psychotherapist and cofounder, Dr Nader Shabahangi and Paula Hertel about the cuisine programs at AgeSong.
As Sharon points out cuisine is very important to AgeSong. Nader agrees saying “Food is very important for AgeSong but especially for our Elders for whom coming together with other residents, or their family or outside people, dining is an experience, it is not just for nourishing the body.” It is a social experience.
We are found of parties at AgeSong and our cooks really emphasize good cuisine and like to show off what they can do. Our chefs are quite amazing, creative people. Paula talks about how AgeSong’s cuisine program emphasizes good food and that emphasis comes from the chefs on down in the program. They have a chef that says it doesn’t matter that this is a senior community; we want good food, we want local produce, organic when we can get it. We want this program to have a menu that everyone will want to eat. This is a place where residents can bring friends and family together to dine in beautiful surroundings.
In addition to the delicious in-house dining there is a ToGo Food program for friends and family who come to visit. Where if a loved one is visiting they can take a meal home with them so they do not have to rush to leave their visit to go make a meal.
