How We Make Money
Every online resource has a business model. AgeSong's goal is to be transparent about ours so families can trust what they read.
What we do not do
AgeSong does not accept payment for editorial coverage or directory ranking. Every licensed home in our data sources appears in the directory whether or not the operator has engaged with AgeSong. Articles are written based on what is useful to families, not what generates revenue. No operator, broker, or referral service can pay to be included in the directory, pay to be mentioned in a guide, or pay to appear higher in search results.
Revenue sources
Premium listings
Operators can optionally pay for an enhanced listing on their own directory page. A premium listing is clearly labeled and includes photos, a written description, and direct contact options. A premium listing does not affect search ranking and does not affect whether a home is included in the directory. A premium home and a non-premium home sit side by side under the same filters.
Affiliate links
If an article ever links to a product or service from which AgeSong earns a referral fee, that link is labeled as an affiliate link at the point of the link. Affiliate relationships do not determine what we cover or recommend.
Display advertising
Display advertising may be used in limited contexts. Where it appears, it is clearly separated from editorial content and is not placed inside the body of articles in a way that could be confused for a recommendation.
Newsletter sponsorships
If the AgeSong newsletter includes a sponsored segment, it is clearly labeled as sponsored. Sponsors do not see or influence the editorial portion of the newsletter.
Editorial firewall
The editorial team does not take direction from the revenue side of the business. An article is never added, changed, or removed because of a business relationship, a premium listing, a prospective sponsor, or a request from an operator. If a conflict arises between a revenue opportunity and what is accurate or useful to a family, the editorial judgment holds. For more on how we research and fact-check, see our editorial process.
